Wouldn't it be nice if....
I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice if your job was your hobby. It would be great to just spend my time doing things that I just really enjoy doing all the time. Unfortunately in the world of work this just doesn't tend to happen. I bet you are wondering why I came up with this. Well I have been sat in the office this morning and was thinking, it's a lovely sunny day and I wish I could just go out for an hour and come back later without everyone asking where i went and what I was doing. Get some ......

Round up from the Girly Geek Dinner
Well there were about 40 people at the girly geek dinner and out of those people there were a few guys, and yes they did have invites. I was impressed by the turn out and I think everyone had a good evening. The evening started off with people wondering around a bit lost and quite a few people wondering what to say to each other. After about half an hour people started to mingle and it all went on from there. As always the food at the texas embassy was good and the FREE wine provided by Stormhoek ......

The Girly Geek dinner is TONIGHT!
Well the day has finally arrived when the girls in technology meet up at last. The question is how will it all go. Will everyone be really nice to each other or will it be an I'm better than you are fest. (I hope not!) It looks like the organisation for the event has gone pretty smoothly thanks to a few very helpful people. (You know who you are! Thank you!) I'm sure it will be a very eventful evening and I am looking forward to it. A few tips to the newbies to the world of Geekdom. - Don't be phased ......

Putting things straight on CEDB
I think I should put a few things straight before people get the wrong idea about the problem I was having with the CEDB in CE 4.2. Please read below. Apologies if there were any misunderstandings. A very helpful Microsoft person has pointed out that I have made a few mistakes on what I have written so here's to putting it right. 1. CEDB is not SQL Server CE. This I do know and I have tried to keep seperate. The current issue with CEDB does not apply to SQL CE at all since it uses a different engine. ......

A good night out in Gent
Hey everyone, I am still in Gent at the moment but I return to England this evening. I had a great night out with the Belgian guys from our office here and the guys from the biomed department at UZ hospital. We went to the craziest little pub/ Taverna last night. 't Velootje in the Patershol area of Gent, Belgium. The entire place was crammed with old bikes and thousands of pieces of old junk. I just wish I had my camera with me... I didn't even take my phone. I will have to return. Even the people ......

In Belgium and blogging
Well, you would think I have better things to do whilst in Belgium at the moment, but no. I am here on business, and am staying at a very poor hotel in Gent. I am not at all impressed. The quality of the food was below parr to say the least, the rooms need re-decorating and the swimming pool if you can call it that, is green!!!! (that's just not right!) So why am I not out and about in Gent tonight you may ask... Because I was up and about at 4am! I must be crazy... I still managed to miss my flight, ......

VS 2005 & C# 2.0, 3.0, 4.0??!
Well people are getting rather confused by some of the messages coming from Microsoft at the moment. The predicted time for release of Visual Studio 2005 is November, and already there is talk of c# 3.0 and 4.0... so does this mean that there are 2 known revisions of the .net framework? 3.0 and 4.0 or are they going to be 2.0.X as the release of the framework... or are we talking about IDE verisons... Version control within Microsoft to the outside world is looking rather confusing. I would imagine ......

Backward Compatibility
Here is a nice simple question for someone who has been playing with VS 2005 with SQL Server 2000. Is Visual Studio 2005 backwardly compatible with the old SQL Server 2000 stuff? Basically we have a large quantity of data on SQL Server 2000 and the source feeding this at the moment is on the old 1.1 framework. We are considering upgrading to 2.0 but we aren't ready at this time to upgrade the server, hence wishing to use it with SQL Server 2000. Any advice or feedback would be appreciated ......

SQLite Merge Replication to SQL Server 2000/5
Just a quick question for anyone using SQLite. Is there any way of merge replicating the SQLite databases over to SQL Server? The reason I ask this odd question is that we already have a large quantity of data on an SQL Server and it is a rather complex database which could not run on SQLite. We have data in SQLite on a Windows CE platform that we wish to transfer to the SQL Server database system to populate multiple SQLite data... How can we do this? I did wonder if there was some clever way of ......

Change of venue for the Girl geek dinner
We have moved the venue for the girly geek dinner from the Octave to the Texas Embassy. The reason for this being that it is quieter, easy to get to and is no where near as expensive.

I hope people aren't too upset by this. Make sure you pass it on to anyone you know who is going to attend. I wouldn't want people to get confused by this change and end up at the wrong venue.

Bits 'n' pieces
I was going to sit down this evening and write loads of stuff on .net mobile stuff... but I got a bit distracted/ sidetracked with the girl geek party stuff. We have quite a few girls going to the party so far... 13 girls and 2 guys. Well I did promise the guys could come so long as they brought a geek girl with them. We still have a couple of weeks until the final numbers are counted. I'm impressed that people are hearing about it. The social network is definately working. I think we have decided ......
