We don't live in a police state, do we???
I was directed to a post recently involving a person being arrested at a Circuit City. It's a good read, and I find myself definitely on the side of the gentleman arrested. I constantly warn people of this sort of thing, and I, myself, have done similar things several times....but not yet arrested. I guess I am troubled by the fact that: 1) The store doesn't appear to know the law. 2) The store felt that physically detaining someone whilst not willing to make any accusation. 3) The officer in this ......

Killer Axe!
I mean, I got this seriously cool guitar for my PS2 so I can play Guitar Hero II better than ever! I also pre-paid for GHIII for the Wii. It is a white Les Paul. The PS2 version has a lame-0 Kramer Striker look-alike. I didn't like playing the real one, so couldn't bring myself to have the GH one. Now, I LOVE my Les, I had to have the Les Paul for the Wii. Thank the gods me fiance' is an understanding woman ......

Dethklok CD now out!

I have become quite a fan of the show "Metalocalypse" on Adult Swim over the last 4 months or so. I can't quite lay my finger on why I like it so well, but it does make me laugh. Anyway, the band isn't real, but a CD has been released for them, and it's available at your local Target. Very cool, if you into this.

Theo's working in C# or "Where in the heck did all those ; come from????"
Ok, so I am doing some exploring to open the old rep...rep....rep...skillset a bit. Thought I'd look at some web stuff; not done a lot of ASP in a looooong time. So, there I am deciding to look at ASP.Net 2.0. At work, we have a Safari Books Online subscription. I normally prefer to have a hard cover, real, no kidding book. However, this does let me peruse them and find ones I like, and if I don't want to actually buy it, I don't have to do so. It does allow offline access to some, so it's a good ......

200th Post
You know, I have spent days trying to find something important to say, something meaningful to put in here for my 200th post. I thought and pondered, then thought and pondered some more. Nothing came. So, here it is: my 200th post. I am simply going to say I am happy to be here, and still posting after all this time. I appreciate the blog for staying up and operational, and my thanks go out to the guys who make this possible. The Internet is such an ephemeral entity, and it is a great thing when ......

Social Networks: My two cents
I am not a very social person. Really, I'm not. Most people who know me and like me will probably attest to the fact that I am quite shy, and usually reserved in a social setting. In a business setting, I am quite personable, professional, and assertive. In small groups with people I know, I tend to be outgoing and talkative (too much some friends might say). As an instructor, I tend to be willing to talk to anyone about anything. However, I tend NOT to want to be the guy who goes to the BIG party ......

Halloween: My two cents
Ok, so I don't repeat what Blogus says, go on to read his comments. No, worries. Take yer time; I'll wait. So, to be honest I agree with Blogus on his comments about the movie. Truly, Zombie is a demented genius. I was convinced he would do this classic film justice, and he lives up to my expectations. However, there is one key point that I'd like to underscore about this film: It is scary precisely because it is so believable. Seriously. I have long held a theory human beings aren't scared by the ......

Typed Datasets: Continued
In my last mention of Typed DataSets, I commented on the overall fragility of the structure and I came out in support of using SP and data readers as a superior method of data management. I did state that the serialization that typed datasets gives you is one great reason to use them, but suggested that they work best with a data structure that isn't going to change a lot. I also feel they have a lot of overhead that the reader/SP approach doesn't. Well, I've seen another good reason to use typed ......

Hilarious T-shirt for the gamer geek who is getting married....
This t-shirt rocks! Of course, the brides on the blog are totally over-reacting to try and make this t-shirt out to be evil...naturally, I had to make a comment. Sheri is the one who pointed it out to me, and even suggested I order one. Mainly because anyone who knows me knows how totally silly I am over her. This t-shirt is a joke, but the people on that blog can't seem to see it ......
