I've done very little with Linux so I'm unfamiliar with most of it. I can maneuver around it enough to get most things installed and I understand why I'm doing what I'm asked to do. However, I'm a little disappointed now :(
I just spent about an hour and a half installing apache, php, and mysql, and drupal all on a freshly installed Ubuntu 7.0.4 Install.
Installation of apache, perfectly fine.
Installation of php, perfectly fine.
Installation of mysql, perfectly fine.
Time for drupal. I started following the steps, going through, and then I needed to create a database for the website... I didn't know what my username and password was for my sql server. Yikes. Took about 5 - 10 minutes and I finally got a database for Drupal up and going.
So I get all of the folder permissions and file permissions set up and I go into firefox and start it up.
"Your web server does not appear to support any common database types."
... What?
But I have MYSQL installed! PHP5 doesn't support MySql all of sudden?
So for now I've put the project down and I'll pick it back up next week. It's more of a work hobby anyway.
