Please be advised that Newfoundland received 35 cm of snow over the weekend.  The snowplough drivers are one of the segments of Public Employees that remain on strike. This will cause slow driving today.

I don't know if it's just me or what but installing this new stuff has been a real pain lately. At the MVP summit in Redmond we were given a CD with the RC1 of the next service pack for Windows XP. I grabbed an extra one just in case 'cause you never know. When I went to install it, it failed during the inital file extraction process. Ok, I thought, that disk is whacked, good thing I have another one. Same problem. :( The next thing we all do is copy the CD contents to the hard drive and try again. ......

I don't know if it's happened to you but many people I know have been unable to successfully install the March Community drop. One is a Microsoft RD and another is a .NET MVP and another is just a really smart cookie. Then there's me but it's no surprise that I had trouble. :) Anyways, here's what I did to eventually get the darn thing to install. Hope this will help anyone out there with the same trouble. The CD I am using is the disc that we were given at the recent MVP Summit in Redmond. Others ......

We've all done it.  Peter Hansen is just brave enough to write about it.  It seems that the experience has paid off for him.

Great. Just what we needed. Security holes in TCP. “Would you like to SuperSize that for 49 cents?” “Eat in or take out?” Sorry, just daydreaming about my new career in the food service industry. The money's not that great, but it's a simpler life. DaveJust because I can...(at least until some script kiddies fix it so I can't...) ......

Imagine. You're sitting at home, minding your own business when the doorbell rings... <snip href=“http://www.msnb... Meanwhile, Prince — a devout Jehovah’s Witness — has been knocking door-to-door in Minneapolis, proselytizing on behalf of the church, according to the London Daily Mirror. The singer reportedly has his bodyguards in tow. “Dressed in a tailor-made suit and trademark stack heels, he steps lightly out of his purring limo and, ......

If Linux wants to ever be anything to anybody, it's gonna have to get it together. You can't compete with Windows until you can make my Dad's computer work. If you can't do that, go home. Here's a perfect example of the type of thing I am talking about. http://www.informationweek.... DaveJust because I can ......

We had a couple of the boys from Panorama Software in today to give us a demo of their business intelligence offering. To be honest, I was expecting to be less than impressed. In a nutshell, this is a front end to OLAP. All I have to say is AMAZING! This product is one of the best applications I have seen. They provide information in a rich browser that uses DHTML (I believe) so there's no JVM or ActiveX to worry about, they have an Excel plug in, and they can also integrate with SQL Server's new ......

I think that this is a good idea, regardless of the outcome of our pigmentation. This guy took the words right out of my mouth. Ironically, I have become what I most despised. Still, I'm glad he said it. I could never get away with it. Man, I really need to get a life. DaveJust because I can... ......

I've been working with our ERP system lately trying to do some BizTalk integration. Pretty simple conceptually but a royal pain in the ass when you get right down to it. We use Navision and it is hosted on the original C/SIDE database management system. ick. Now, if you are programming within Navision itself, life is not so bad. If, on the other hand, you have to get at the database using the ODBC driver, things get a little odd. The first thing that is weird is that you have to install the Navision ......

Not that I usually have anything intelligible to say I have simply succumbed to the peer pressure. I tend to rant a lot so you may find it colourful. I AM CANADIAN so don't hassle me about my spelling eh. Oh, I would like to thank Jeff Julian and tell the world that he does, in fact, ROCK. Blog request to Blog implementation. Elapsed time: 2 minutes. Thanks dude!
