Funny client story

Saturday, February 18, 2006 5:37 AM

So I'm in a client meeting a few weeks ago. There's myself, our business analyst, a guy from a different company, and two people from the client business (one techie, one business). Now, they're all great guys, but this was just too funny.

So we're all talking about how to solve the issue that we're all meeting about, when the business guy from our client looks at me and says, “Hockey.”

The discussion stops...”I'm sorry?” I say, a little be-wildered.

“Hockey.” he says again. I must have looked confused, and I was, because he explained “Your tooth...you lost it in hockey?.”

Now...I haven't lost any teeth. But thanks to genetics, I do have a slight gap between my front two teeth.

“No, no lost teeth, just genetics.” I said with a smile and we all had an awkward chuckle and moved on.

It was no big deal, and actually I felt worse for the guy than anything else. But just goes to show you just can never guess what may happen in a client meeting.

Dude... that guy must have felt like a complete tool. LOL

I have pictures of us hanging out and I damn sure don't see any gaps large enough for a whole extra tooth.

Hey are you going to Tech*Ed Boston? 2/18/2006 8:15 AM | Chris Williams

He must have assumed that b/c you speak with a Canadian accent you live and breathe hockey. No one from Canada cares for things like American football (let alone crappy American football teams from Atlanta) 2/24/2006 9:57 AM | Matt Ranlett

LOL...well...the client is Canadian too (we do have business contacts up here y'know) ;)

You'd be surprised how fanatic we can be about the NFL, especially (God knows why) the Vikings around these parts.
