Chris G. Williams Beware: I mix tech and personal interests here.
It started as a fairly routine day...

Get up, shower, take meds, eat bagel, drive to client site, stare at code for 8-9 hours, go home.

I got about half-way through step 6 and then drove over to Magenic to do an interview. The interview went well and as I was about to head back to the client site, I started having chest pains and a little trouble breathing.  It wasn't so bad that I couldn't drive, so I went home and called my doctor. She wasn't in today, and the clinic was booked solid, so the nurse recommended I go to the emergency room to get checked out.

That would have been the smart thing to do. Instead I decided to stay home and get some work done. After all, I'd likely end up sitting in a waiting room for several hours, and I figured if it continued or got worse, I could just go in then... at least this way I could be mostly billable.

Eventually the pain subsided, and after a few puffs on my inhaler, I was breathing ok. Then, I did something... not sure what, and it all came back even worse than before. It's not a heart attack. There's no pain or numbness in my shoulder or neck. I'm not nauseous or running a fever. It just hurts like a motherfracker. Feels like someone kicked me right in the chest, hard.

So, I'm sitting very still now. Every time I cough, it hurts. Every time I laugh, it hurts. Whatever it is, I hope it goes away soon... I have way too much work to do. Posted on Friday, March 14, 2008 6:51 PM General Interest | Back to top

Man, you should probably go ahead and go to the ER just to make sure. I know a guy that had a really bad toothache, nothing else hurt but his tooth, and when he went to the dentist they had to rush him to the ER because he was having a heart attack. Also, my tax guy (who is only like 30 and FAR healthier than I) just had a stroke; they found out it was a hole in his heart. In any case, not trying to scare you but it's definitely better to be safe by having it checked out. Hope you get feeling better.

Y'know what's hard to do? WORK WHEN YOU'RE HOLED UP IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME!

Go get checked out man...the code will still be there when you come back.

Post back and let us know how your doing. Take care of yourself. I know I have a hard time admitting that I'm getting older. When I was younger, that feeling was just because I had a 99 cent burritto at 7-11. Now, it's a scary feeling.

Once again...I am not making the drive all the way there just to lug your butt BACK to the ER! (Do you really miss me that much?! :-) )

Seriously though-you still should go to the doc now since you were too stupid to go to the ER on Friday! That's not something to be ignored. Please take care of yourself!
