Chris G. Williams Beware: I mix tech and personal interests here.
The last few months have been some of my busiest since moving to Minnesota back in August. (Wow... has it really been 7 months already?)

In addition to my various "for fun" side projects, I've also been doing some tech-editing.

First, I worked with O'Reilly on a VB 2008 book, and that was a pretty positive experience. Not only did I manage to learn a fair amount about the newest version of my language of choice (I'd honestly been too busy to spend much time in the 3.5 stuff) but I also found an author whose writing style I really like. (I did NOT like it at first, but it grows on you, and I can't recall ever actually LOL'ing while reading a tech book before, so that's a plus.)

Second, I've been working with Deitel on another VB2008 book. It's funny how much stuff there is to cover on a single language. Experience levels aside (one is a little more introductory than the other) these books have very little in common. Both are good books, but the chapter topics are mostly different and the writing style is COMPLETELY different. (Hint: If you're coming in completely cold to VB and programming in general, the Deitel book is the one for you.)

Once I finish this book (soon) I'll have a brief respite before (hopefully) starting my 3rd tech-editing project (which is thankfully not on VB 2008.)

Now that the temps are hitting around 0 C there, I think you should have an official "I survived my first somewhat-northern winter" party!

Of course, this would consist of going to an indoor hockey rink where the temperature is well below 0 C and then drinking slurpees until you had a 3 hour brain freeze.

Funny you should mention that. I initially scheduled a cookout for the end of April to celebrate just such an occasion, until they informed me it would probably snow... oh well.
