Earlier today, D'Arcy and I were IM'ing on D&D Alignments as applied to DC and Marvel Superheroes. DC, for the most part tends to pair heroes and their major villains on at least one common axis. For example Batman is CG and Joker is definitely CE. Superman is classic LG and (imo, some of you will disagree) Luthor is LE.
Marvel tends to follow a similar pattern, not using siametrically opposed alignments. Take Spiderman, very typical of a CG character and his primary enemies: Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, both are pretty typical CE. The Avengers are another good example, as a LG group, they tend to have highly organized, militant enemies such as Hydra or AIM.
Also, Theo & I got into a similar discussion and while we agree on the major points, we dont see eye to eye on some of the finer details.
Thats what makes it fun, no?
