I just received another comment on my post about customer service and it triggered a thought from a side conversation at Code Camp this weekend. 

So what if there was an industry standard code that you could give to the first tier customer service representative on the phone?  A code to let the CS rep know that the stuff on his/her little queue cards will not work.  It would indicate that we have already tried those little tricks, we are technically savvy IT people, so let's move on.  Think of it as a “move your piece directly to GO and collect $200” code... a bring me right to level 2 or 3 support because I know more than you do.

It might actually save companies money if they cater to different user levels instead of trying to deal with the lowest common denominator.
