Brian Scarbeau Insights from a seasoned Computer Science Trainer

For the past several years, the Lake Highland Upper School Computer Science Department has sponsored a Tech night for students and parents. In the past, we have had some very good speakers and a good crowd as well. This year we plan on having our tech night on Thursday, January 25th and we have an outstanding speaker as well.

Tom Carbone who is the Technical Director for the Florida Interactive Academy , Orlando, FL, will be our speaker.

His talk will be about how Math & Science are used to create video games.

Here's his bio: Before joining FIEA, Tom Carbone was one of the lead programmers on Madden 2005 and 2006, produced by EA at its Orlando-based Tiburon Studios. Prior to joining EA in 2003, he worked for Microsoft Game Studios, Kodiak Interactive, and Sculptured Software Studios. His previous game credits include Amped 2 (XBOX), Inside Pitch Baseball (XBOX), WCW Backstage Assault (N64/PS), WCW Mayhem (N64/PS), Breakaway Hockey (N64/PS), Space Jam (PS/Saturn/PC), MonsterTruck (Genesis) and Tecmo Super Baseball (Genesis). After graduating from the University of Utah Graduate School of Engineering, Tom helped design the AMRAAM missile for Hughes Aircraft Company in Canoga Park, CA. After a transfer to parent General Motors, he worked on a factory automation project before joining the game industry. We look forward to his visit to our school.
