Tangible Thoughts SharePoint, MOSS? and all the other questions

As some of you may already know, I have a souped up/customized version of firefox some of those extentions to sattisfy me needs. But lately Firefox has been playing up on me. As soon as I start the the thing, it goes un responsive for a couple of minutes. Whats that all about. I presume some extention is playing up.

Anybody know how I can trace? Mind you I am not looking forward to reinstalling :P.

Set up a new profile using the Profile Manager. Presumably the performance problems go away. If not, then you can safely bet that the problem isn't an extension. If the performance is restored, you can add your extensions back one by one and see if one of those is causing the problem. You can also import your bookmarks so that the new profile is essentialy the same as the old one.

What Ed said. If you don't want to go to that extreme, I'd suggest disabling extensions first and seeing if there is a change in the loadup time. Also, if Firefox checking for updates of the browser/extensions on startup ? (Check Tools->Options->Advanced on Win32 or Edit->Prefs->Advanced in that other OS)

Some observations:
If you've put in the network pipelining fixes and have a lot of tabs open on startup, there is a slow down as Firefox seems to block waiting for tabs to load content.

Also, TBE is dog slow. Although I really would love to have some of the functionality that is offered, the slowdown of the UI and the browser in general was just plain unbearable. I haven't used TBE since about 0.8 or so. Maybe its better now, but I still would prefer (personally) to get by without it.
