I and a few others were on on a call with Microsoft Consulting (India) who were giving us a presentation on SharePoint 2007. Interestingly the consultant said that the Beta is good for deployment and the only changes to be expected in the final from the Beta would be minor stuff like 'UI look and feel'. And there I was thinking "Bullshit!". It just could have been the consultant trying to make the sale, but he should know better than to bullshit with people who actually use the product. Any who. ...
In my sparse spare time, I have been looking at SharePoint 2007 and what it has to offer. I think that saying that it is a great improvement is a vast understatement. Anyhow, there are some e-learning courses available now from Microsoft to get a head-start on it. Course 3370: Getting Started with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (Beta) In this clinic, you'll explore the 2007 Microsoft Office System to understand how it provides many benefits to an organization, including enhanced collaboration, ...
Hey all, Just wanted to let you know that I am not welching on my deal to document all of the new functionality and stuff I am doing for SharePoint 2007 (aka Microsoft Office SharePoint Server), I just have to deal it a few days. The reason is that when contacting the Microsoft Rep, he informed me that SharePoint has experienced some delays in dropping to public beta and that I should hold off on any of the communications until it actually does make public release. I promise to continue to blog the ...

Tom Rizzo has moved from the SQL product team to the SharePoint product team, and I have been following his blog here But here is an entry from Scott Guthrie's blog (ASP.NET product team) that sounds like really good news for developers using the next release of SharePoint (due out 4th quarter 2006??). I was able to attend a couple of Scott's and a couple of Tom's presentations at Dev Connections last month; both of them were some of the favorite conference sessions. I'll definitely be watching Tom ...
One of the things we did with ASP.NET 2.0 was to work very closely with the SharePoint and CMS teams within Microsoft to enable much richer architectural and developer integration than we had with previous releases. Specifically, we tried to drive many of the core architectural requirements and scenarios they and other portal/CMS vendors had into the ASP.NET 2.0 runtime (for example: web parts, virtual path providers and compilation, site navigation, membership and role management, personalization, ...

It looks like Microsoft will discontinue FrontPage at the end of the year with the release of other tools for SharePoint 2007 development/maintenance. It has been a pain to need this tool installed to edit SharePoint so I am glad to hear this news.
