Earlier this month, Microsoft released the Requirements Authoring Starter Kit (RASK) for Visual Studio 2005.  It is available here:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=E96CCC54-8759-452F-BF68-3A261C663B66&displaylang=en

RASK provides a customizable requirements-authoring solution for software development teams.  It provides the basis for a Requirements Authoring solution and shows how to access Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server programmatically from Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the Microsoft Office System.

It also demonstrates a concept for documenting  software-development requirements in a team environment. Because requirements are often in flux during the project life cycle, a shared view of requirement information is critical.  These requirements are saved to a SQL Server database which is the point of consolidation so that many documents can be created with the same data.

The requirements needed to run this software is the following:
*  Microsoft Office 2003 with Service Pack 2 (SP2)
*  Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the Microsoft Office System
*  Microsoft SQL Server 2005
*  Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 with SP2
*  Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server
*  Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite
*  Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

Microsoft has provided a good overview lesson in RASK in two parts which can be found here:

The first RASK lesson covers the following:
*  RASK Architecture
*  Feature Walkthroughs

The second RASK lessons covers the following:
*  Code Samples for RASK Features
*  Establishing Requirement Dependencies
*  Installing and Setting Up RASK Solution
*  Troubleshooting RASK

If you have the prerequisites available to you, I highly recommend you check this out.

Even some of the steps told to install RASK in Part are not clear, i dont find "RequirementAuthoringStarterKitMaster " solution in the installed code :(
